State Fair Week at Scottish Rite Park

Monday August 16th – Friday August 20th

A State Fair Celebration at Scottish Rite Park complete with a parade, corn dogs and competitions for baking, hog-calling, corn-shucking and pie-eating, the event even features a true-to-size butter cow constructed from two-by-fours & masking tape.

 

Malt Shop Memories

Sunday August 22nd

Former Carnival Cruise Ship Entertainer Cynthia Ziesman will “rock around the clock” with the residents of Scottish Rite Park on musical journey back to the 1950’s. Cynthia has been in over 1000 professional performances including shows produced by Hallmark Cards and World of Fun Theme Park. Cynthia's musical theater career includes melodrama and children's theater, and lead and supporting roles in "Sound of Music", "Hello Dolly", "South Pacific", and "Fiddler On The Roof". Branching out, Cynthia has found her niche in Cabaret Revues and has contributed her vocal talents to church bands and recording studios. Now based in Kansas City, she is also a vocal coach for aspiring young singers.

 

Wednesday Night Concert Series  

September 1st. -29th

In the month of September the residents in Scottish Rite Parks’ Health Care Center will be able to enjoy a variety of live entertainment on Wednesday nights with their evening meal. The month long concert series will include some of Des Moines finest musicians & singers.

 

Oktoberfest

Thursday Oct.7th

This event will feature The Al Landin Band & The Polka Club of Iowa.

Everyone at Scottish Rite Park will be working together to insure that this will be an afternoon to remember. Activity Director John Heldreth will be busy transforming the main dining room into a Bavarian Dance Hall while Director of Culinary Services Lydia Webber & her Crew will be preparing to serve fresh apple strudel & hot pretzels. Other Scottish Rite Park employees will be on hand to help serve refreshments & join in the fun.

 

NOVEMBER

Thanksgiving Pageant

The B.T. Players, from Behavioral Technologies, will once again perform a Thanksgiving pageant. Residents will share music and poetry during the pageant making this a memorable occasion for all.

 

DECEMBER

Christmas celebrated at Scottish Rite Park

Families and friends will again experience the joy of the Christmas season. Scottish Rite Park’s activity department will arrange a variety of activities and programs for the residents. Trips to see the holiday lights and several musical programs are planned as well as a Christmas Eve worship service.
